Louis Pasteur's theory of germs is ridiculous fiction - Pierre Pachet
APPARENTLY SOMEONE reads the comments left on US President Barack Obama's websites and the White House seems to be making changes based on Web 2.
According to the AP, yesterday the White House changed the name of one of its offices on the basis of Web 2 comments.
It seems that Obama is also listening to voters who want to change the nation's policy banning marijuana and ending the fundamentalist Christian brainwashing that kids should not know about their own bodies and that abstinence is a viable form of contraception. All as a result of Web 2 based comments and polls. µ
Is it with the lexmark adverts floating across the bloody story!!! fecking annoying.
noscript is my friend :)
I hope that the Obama administration realizes that just because most of the vocal freaks that comment about pot and religion don't represent any significant percentage of U.S. society. But I'm afraid that they aren't that smart. Hell, most of Obama's administration are tax cheating elitists.
We're screwed.
Actually, McHale, it is the fundamentalists that I mostly hear wailing about drugs and sex. Occasionally one of them has to stand in his pulpit and apologize for indulging in drugs and sex too!

Firstly, do you honestly think that you have a better chance of knowing what the majority of 306,411,725* people really want than the Commander and Chief?! I highly doubt that!
Secondly, if you think the US is screwed with Obama in power it makes me extremely concerned of what you thought/felt when Bush was in power. Obama is one of the best things that's happened to the US and he's really doing a good job of dragging you lot out of the gutter and into the 21st century.
The UK on the other hand...well, that's another matter.
OMG I guess "God" wanted Obama to win. Don't you have faith??
We were screwed with Bush, now we are screwed with Obama.
Oh, and regarding the article: many people may nor prefer abstinence, myself included, but it is the only 100% effective form of birth control you can use without getting snipped. That's just a fact, it can't be desputed with any logical argument, and the article implying anything else is lousy political mumbo jumbo. Find me a birth control manufacturer or a condom manufacturer that says their products are 100% effective.
Seriously, is the anti-religous sentiment so strong, that people are claiming abstinence isn't a good form of birth control? That's just dumb. I don't promote abstinence because I'm not a religous nut, but I'm not a liberal nut, either.
I find it interesting that whenever an American (or, should I say Yank?) askes for American units to be used, they get a bunch of responses like 'It's a UK publication, so we use French units, get used to it.'
But there's a bunch of American political news, news about American companies, news about the American economy, tech shows held in America, and interviews with Americans.
So, French units + American politics = UK news?
No one's arguing whether abstinence is a 100% gauranteed method of birth control. Obviously, it is. What people are arguing is the fact that kids WILL have sex anyway, just as people commit crimes despite them being illegal. I for one believe that abstinence should be taught ALONG WITH other forms of contraception such as condoms, birth control pills, etc. I would rather equip our children with all the tools available instead of handicapping them from the beginning and wondering what happened later. *cough* Bristol Palin *cough*
Oh, and I'm sorry that you are one those individuals who believes that the religion you practice is the best thing for everyone. Despite popular belief, I do not practice any of the major religions yet I still have morals that I live by and values and beliefs that I would say make me a decent person. That said, birth control has nothing to do with religion and vice versa, it is about controlling unwanted pregnancies. Disagreement over the methods used to that end have nothing to do with "anti-religious sentiment."
If you really aren't a religious nut then please refrain from judging those who do not think as you do.
Thanks.
Wow, there are a lot of close minded liberals for folks who claim to be so open-minded.
Perhaps it is the parents' job (and not schools) to teach kids about some things? Perhaps we shouldn't be paying someone to do what parents should be doing? There are plenty of folks who are not religious fundamentalists who think it is not the state's job to teach everything. And just because you don't think something should be state taught doesn't mean you disagree with the position itself.
And political party aside, while people may like Obama's social policies - he is about to bankrupt this country. The national debt is set to triple within 10 years under Obama's budget (analysis by non-partisan CBO). Currently over $0.30 of every tax dollar goes to debt and interest on the debt... any idea what that # will be if the debt triples? He calls for everyone to tighten their belts and make sacrifices, yet none of that is being done with the national budget. This is not a Democrat thing or a Republican thing - it is a "whoever happens to be in power" thing. Adding well over 2Trillion of debt within the first 3 months is not doing a good job.
Well said and dead on. Thanks dude, your perspective is not only accurate, it's refreshing to read.
..end..
We read who is in the White House or who should have been in the White House. However, be no matter if McCain had won or If Obama would not have won, it is all in the hands of God the creator and his will. I respect many view points and how many issues must be address such like children, education, but never adults who have no children and find hard times or are become homeless and no agency are willing or able to help them. Let us regroup and work with one another.
Above all, put the trust in the only one who can and will change this world for the best and that is God the father and his son Jesus. Think this out for a second? (We the United States was founded In God Will Trust.) In addition, we were the only country that did so well for so many years and now that we are trying to remove God. We see ourselves like others countries of the past are being hit by famine, plaques and much more. What does it take? Let us return to the one that we can always count on. Remember Obama is only as good as God will allow him to be.
