Wireless Gigabit alliance signs big names

Nibble Intel, Microsoft, Nokia, Panasonic and Samsung
Thursday, 7 May 2009, 12:09

THE BIG NAMES in the technology industry have signed up to the Wireless Gigabit (WiGig) standard, which will probably allow high-definition video to be wired to tellies.

WiGig uses the 60-gigahertz spectrum and should cut from hours to minutes the time it takes to wirelessly transfer gigantic digital data files, such as HD films. WiGig is 10 to 20 times faster than WiFi.

According to the AP, with the big names like Broadcom, Intel, LG, Microsoft, Nokia, Panasonic and Samsung backing it, WiGig is likely to become the wireless HD video streaming standard of the future. µ

at that speed

at that speed your hair will fail out within a few mins of watching such HD video!

60GHz?

Oviously a technology for a guy who doesn't want anymore kids. Birth control and wife control in one package?

High frequency does not cause sterilisation or hair loss

60Ghz non-ionizing radiation has no risk of causing ones hair to fall out, or cause one to become sterile.

If high frequencies did this, visible light (450-750 THz) would have wiped out the human race millennia ago.
