New PSUs coming from Enermax, OCZ and Corsair

The smallest is 750W

THE POWER SUPPLY TALK at CeBIT was all about 80+ Gold certified PSUs, and who would be first. The 80+ site lists a few Gold certified PSUs, but none have gotten to the press release stage yet.

That said, there have been some interesting things happening in the high wattage realm lately, with new stuff from Enermax, OCZ and Corsair. PSUs are proving a relatively high margin business of late, so everyone is jumping on board.

Galaxy Evo 1250W

We told you about the Enermax Revolution 85+ at CeBIT, but the big boy in the lineup, 1250W, will not be coming to the US. Enermax doesn't want to sell two of the same wattage parts with different efficiencies against each other, so the lower end parts will be Revolutions and the 1250W will be an 82% efficient Galaxy Evo.

The up side is that the Evo costs less, so it is only $20-25 more than the 1050W Revolution. For the only brand of PSUs on the market with 12-pin headers for the modular cables, this isn't all that bad a deal. If you need to power 4 dual 6/8-pin GPUs, this should be enough for your needs.

Next up, we have the OCZ/PC Power and Cooling Silencer 910, a 910W 80+ Silver certified PSU. We have been using the 750W version of this PSU for most of our testing since this review and it hasn't had any problems, so two thumbs up there. Sadly though, the 750 comes in bright red, the 910 doesn't. Have we entered the era of fashion conscious PSUs yet?

A new HX of 'unknown' wattage :)

Last up is Corsair with a teaser. They sent the above pic along with a promise that their HX modular PSU line would soon have two new models to supplement the ones they have now, 450, 520, 620 and 1000W. They will have the same cables as the 1000, and updated fan profiles for lower noise. In case you are totally blind, at least one of them is going to be 750W, the other is likely around 900W. µ

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
