Firefox 3.5 beta released
THE MOZILLA FOUNDATION has released a new Firefox beta just days after patching up the last version of its open source browser.
Firefox beta 3.5 supposedly boasts better performance, a long anticipated private browsing mode, and a few other additional features and tweaks.
Mozzarella reckons Firefox 3.5 sports a much faster TraceMonkey engine for running chunks of JavaScript, allows certain permitted applications to know a user's location and lets the browser carry out processing in the background without hanging the web app's UI.
In addition, the private browsing (or pr0n browsing mode) ensures a machine is left immaculate and with no trace of browsing history, as well as allowing users to tag audio and video content in much the same way as pictures are today.
Changing the name of the beta from the earlier 3.1 series to this new 3.5 is apparently a mark of how far reaching the changes in this particular update are.
