BT launches aggressive broadband package

I have to say they're the worst, most evil company I've ever had to deal with. A maxed out exchange that they refuse to deal with, giving me 15kb most of the day, rude and crappy customer service (Let me check your line for the 10th time), and aggressive contracts:- I can't seem to ge away!

Hurry up 02, get to my exchange, please!

The reason they can do it so "cheap" (in their eyes) is because they sell your personal details for a financial profit to retail organisations so they can spam you electronically and by post.

I got a courtesy call (if they wanted to be truly courteous they'd have left me alone!) trying to persuade me to get my broadband through them.

when I told them where to shove their advert-infested, privacy invasive junk they started asking questions about my current provider! I told them I'm not telling and for some weeks after I received postal spam!

I had to be very assertive with some asian sweat-shop slave to get my details removed from their spam-list.

anyone who knows this and falls for their sales pitch is a mug that deserves to be scammed.

also, they bang on about their "home hub" being great and worth £80 but its just a regular adsl2+ router that costs £30ish on any high street. they just took ages to catch up with the technology and made a big deal about it in their patronising adverts.

always be sceptical about BT they prey on people's lack of knowledge and think its ok to track your every move on the internet then sell the information for cash.

Shouldn't we doing our civic duty and be posting these comments on the pages that prospective BT customers might see?
I'm not suggesting anyone hack BT's homepage or anything - that would be wrong

8 years ago BT banned me 'For Life' from using them as an ISP because I was an unacceptably high user and breached their fair-use policy.
And this was on 56K dial up!

I never looked back, I can only imagine what the'd do to me now if they had me as a customer and looked at my bandwidth consumption!

Mmmwhahhh ha ha haaaa!

I live in a very rural area, and every other ISP won't even give me 10 secs of their time because of it. We're practically stuck with BT, however compared to other ISP's in the area (before they all decided it wasn't worth the hassle) we get great service. People across the road with AOL (free laptop deal) and their service is atrocious, we get 2 meg faster speeds, fair caps or throttling (compared to them) and our customer service has been alright if you are firm but polite with them. BT Hub 2.0 isn't fantastic, but there are some nice features like MAC address time filters etc. so our 10 year old can't access anything when he should be asleep. All in all, I'm satisfied that for our purposes we got a good deal at the moment....however, as said in the immortal tv ad, this deal is for new customers only! And on an 18-month contract at that....which, for people like us, is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard (as me mum often says)
