Apple says sorry to baby battering groups

Accidental approval of shaking babies
Fri Apr 24 2009, 10:36

FRUIT THEMED toymaker Apple has said sorry for allowing a "deeply offensive" game for the Iphone called "Baby Shaker" to appear on its Apple Apps store. The game allowed a user to violently shake an Iphone screen to make an animated image of baby stop crying after enough shakes.

While it is unsurprising that such a game would be created by some sick juvenile mind, it is strange that Apple - which has iron-fisted control over what software it allows into its Iphone Apps Store - let it through.

Not surprisingly the game infuriated The Sarah Jane Brain Foundation, which seeks to prevent brain injuries from Shaken Baby Syndrome. Apple has said whoops and pulled the application. µ

Yes, there's 'Political Correctness', but there's also 'Bad Taste Shite'. Guess which one this App is.

Responsible thought process, no need for police! But...

Games highlighting men killing men, raping women, drug use, these generalizations are now not enough. The categories are drilling deeper now to include babies in an abuse simulation.

A true moron will not think of older siblings getting their hands on bad information to quiet a crying baby.

In that case and others, not thinking ahead call for policing.

It's called authoritative prevention.

But most would like to see this gone for the sake of dark enjoyment, but fail to see the protection from what others would personally draw the line at. In the frail justice system, you knock one law down more are rendered invalid, it becomes an unrolling ball of yarn.

Authority figures are dismissed and ignored and end up desperate for medical attention afterwards.

Anarchy is definitely not the best of times.

puh-lease

I'm with you Bobby Flayed. In today's overly politically correct world you apparently can't get away with dark humor anymore.

If any of you actually thought this app was going to lead to actually real world baby shaking your a moron.

This app was created in the same light as all the "dead baby" joke we told in ELEMENTARY school, and just as harmless!

Apple you look like overprotective soccer mom's bullied in to removing this app by the incessantly politically correct thought police.

Ridiculous.

So, what do you guys do with your babies after they're battered? Deep fry or pan fry?

Accidental Approval?

Ridiculous! There is not such thing as an accidental approval! You either approve it or you do not, and if you do and should not have, the correct descriptions would include: incompetence, negligence, stupidity, ignorance, or a total lack of judgment. Hardly an accident! The lies just never stop! And Apple's contempt for the American public grows greater each day.

Proverbial 10 foot pole

It's hard to touch that one with a 10-foot pole isn't it. But no matter how you look at it, there are MANY video games that go FAR beyond what this did. I guess when you can misconstrue a game as an application then the need for a maturity rating doesn’t exists. So is this a double oversight on the Apple Store?

Tarnishes their image

That baby-shaking app definitely tarnishes the iPhone's image. It's so poorly made! All it has is some black and white illustrations of babies, and you shake the phone and X's appear on the eyes. What a crappy use of the iPhone's graphics capabilities! I'd be ashamed to have such a piece of junk on my iPhone (if I were to ever own one).

Erm...

Shouldn't that be ANTI-baby battering groups?

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
