China Mobile joins forces with PC makers

Promoting TD-SCDMA-enabled 3G netbooks
Thu Apr 16 2009, 11:29

CHINA MOBILE HAS phoned a friend, or six friends rather, announcing it will be teaming up with half a dozen PC makers to help it shift a load of TD-SCDMA-enabled 3G netbooks.

The Hong Kong/New York listed telco has roped in the likes of Lenovo, HP, Dell, Founder Technology Group, Tsinghua Tongfang and the Haier Group to help promote a plethora of TD-SCDMA network operated netbooks.

China Mobile hopes that its offer of either a CNY 2100 ($308) or CNY 1500 ($220) subsidy to buyers who sign up for its TD-SCDMA services will help boost sales.

People in the know reckon the six PC party talks are already underway across various provincial branches, to deal with issues such as product procurement and pricing. µ
