Asus’ W90Vp gaming behemoth tested

Daily Wirble Quad-core, dual-GPU, dual HDD laptop

THE MASSIVE 18.4-inch Asus W90Vp gaming notebook is getting a lookover at Hot Hardware. Dual HDD, quad core CPU and dual HD 4870 GPUs - and some unofficial overclocking ability from what we hear - big thumbs-up.

Gskill's 128GB Titan SSD gets reviewed by Guru of 3D. The memory enthusiast kit blew away Hilbert, but the JMicron controller issues remain largely unanswered. A second installment was promised...

Nvidia partners, much like ATI's, have committed to fiddling and improving reference designs (no matter how old). TweakTown reviews the Galaxy Geforce GTX 275 Overclocked tri-fan graphics card.

Think Computers reviews the Cooler Master Aquagate Max Liquid Cooling System. This large in-case cooling system proves a large reservoir is less effective than a large radiator, beating the Bigwater 780e by 5 degrees Celsius...

Bit Tech tested Sapphire's latest Vapor-X toy, the Radeon HD 4870 2GB. Clive thinks it's a bit of a stretch, considering you can get an equally performing and cheaper-priced Toxic...

Coolink's GFXChilla GPU cooler is reviewed at Verdis Reviews. The package includes just about anything to cool everything VGA-wise, which could explain the pricing, but otherwise is very quiet and efficient.

Tweaknews has a QNAP TS-439 Pro four-bay NAS system built around the Atom platform. The system benefits from added eSATA, USB and even VGA inputs/outputs that add even more expandability to the already bulging NAS.

XS Reviews has a Zalman 770 XT power supply. This will run your tri-SLI rig in near total silence and its 88% efficiency should help keep things green. As Zalman is, Zalman does... the price goes through the roof at £150.

TechGage is looking at the Asus EeeTop PC ET1602 touchscreen PC. The strongest features seem to be the bundled software and the solid touchscreen, despite the weak Atom processor.

iXBT Labs snuck in a Phenom II X4 810 and tested some choice coolers with the CPU. If you want to overclock an aftermarket cooler will definitely get you there, but the stock cooler performs admirably well in standard clocks...

Elite Bastards reviews the Core i7 920 and 940 processors. They're still very expensive processors, if you add all the pennies for memory and motherboard, but you just can't beat them.

Hitachi also has some new 2.5-inch goodies, like the 5K500.B  500GB HDD. Its high capacity compounded with some energy saving features makes it a great upgrade for hungry lappies.

Extremetech got a quartet of GT200 55nm-based graphics cards and compared them to the original GTX 280. It seems it pays not to dive head first into the "latest and greatest"...

Phoronix is trying out the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with its Ubuntu distribution. Works quite well but no news on the integrated HSUPA module we've heard so much about.

Bjorn3D has a HornetTek Rhino 2.5-inch SATA to USB enclosure. It'll support both 9.5mm and 12.5mm HDDs and draws its power directly from the USB interface. We don't know quite what "Decent overclocking result" means, tho'.

Anandtech has a gaming rig from iBuyPower, the Gamer Paladin F860-a. Far from being the fastest gaming rig in the world, it bears the mighty Core i7 940 and an HD 4870 1GB card to power its gaming glories. µ

I was trying to find a Asus W90Vp but

I gave up after 2 weeks of searching. The laptop was on pre-order at the time, and everyplace that had it wanted anyway from $2,300+ with no shipping estimate. Its hard to find one in stock. Good laptop though
