Microsoft offers computer training to unemployed

Nibble What about the people it laid off?
Tuesday, 14 April 2009, 11:06

SOFTWARE GIANT MICROSOFT has been giving away more than 30,000 vouchers to help unemployed people in Washington state to get new computer skills.

The vouchers will entitle them to attend computer classes for free and take Microsoft certification exams at no or low cost.

Ironically, many of the people in Washington state will be unemployed thanks to Microsoft ending temporary contracts or laying off workers. We doubt if they will need Volish certification.

Seattle Governer Chris Gregoire praised the Vole for helping the nation come out of the recession stronger. µ

More people with computer skills in an already saturated market

Just what we need in this declining and outsourced field. Its like training people to make buggy whips after the introduction of the automobile.

Awesome idea!

For Microsoft, that is.

The more people they have out there, the lower the TCO and the lower the salaries they have to pay to their employees.

Microsoft hypocrasy? Say it ain't so, Joe!

What about the people Microsoft already laid off? Nope, sorry, they already had computer training for all the good it did them.

And that useless parasite of a governor can't wait to bleat about how "helpful" Microsoft is. If I were one of the laid-off, I'd work to get him unemployed.
