THE INQUIRER IS running an internal contest for the shortest article of the day. I respectfully submit:
Nvidia's GT300 is set to tape out in June.
I think I win. [Unless I decide to wiffle on here for hours about something that may or may not be related to graphics cards. Or Nvidia. Like, how about that kid who found a packet of Ecstasy pills in his copy of Grand Theft Auto? Now that's a story..! Ed.] µ
At least you didn't break this piece of information in three and spread it across three distinct articles, like fudzilla does.
Charlie, has nobody stopped to ask why the hell an ecstacy-dealer-look-a-like of a dad was buying his 12 year old son an 18 rated game in the first place?
What exactly does "set to tape out" mean? I'm I simply not up to date on my slang?
Just to show that I really am cool and all that: XP is made by M$. Yeah, now I'm cool again. I think.
If the INQ has a contest you would win every single one of them. Who has the shortest articles? Who gets trashed the most on the INQ? Who hates Nvidia the most? You win every single competition I can think of if the INQ has one. But we all love you...
O.K. Charles, that was very helpful, expecting some gtx 350 data or?, soon.// Heres Very Informative SideNote on AMD just out this hour: AMD's Sabinemainstream desktop and notebook platform--slated for a 2011 release--will feature the company's new Llano APU: an Accelerated Processing Unit that combines a CPU and GPU on the same piece of silicon. According to leaked AMD notebook roadmap images, the Sabine platform will support USB 3.0, 16 USB ports, 6 STAT, Raid, and more using AMD's SB9xxM chipset. Other platform features include a DDR3-1600 MHz memory controller, an integrated clock generator and DAC, and BGA for low TDPs.
However, what's interesting that the Llano GPU will feature integrated DirectX 11 support in addition to UVD 3 and PCIe Gen 2 compatibility. As it stands, the Tigris platform and the upcoming Danube platform--the former set for a release in the second half of 2009 and latter slated for 2010--will only offer support for DirectX 10.1 and UVD 2. Additionally, the Danube platform's "Chaplain" CPU--featuring up to four cores-- will be at the heart of the Danube platform, accompanied by the RS800M and SB8xxM chipsets and the "Manhattan" GPU.
But as for the Llano--or rather AMD's "system on a chip"--the APU will feature up to four CPU cores and 32nm processing when released in 2011. The Llano APU was originally revealed back in November 2008 during AMD's 2008 Financial Analyst Day (pdf). "AMD confirmed that it plans to transition to 40nm manufacturing process in 2009. Additionally, AMD committed to extend its leadership in Microsoft DirectX technologies, including the anticipated DirectX 11 transition in 2009, thereby ensuring that ATI Radeon HD graphics cards will continue to allow gamers and developers to enjoy the latest in graphics technologin.b. straight from Horses Lips. Nigel Preece, I can think of some contests Charlie wouldn't win. Those that involve Sylvie and physical attributes, for example.
But when it comes to male badgers, nobody can dig out the news as well as Charlie.
GT300 debuts in June.
Nice try, but that's no Drashek.
This area left blank.
Beat that :D
Doesn't get any shorter than that baby.
Is like listening to my wife while she is drunk.
I am just whipping on the pro here. :)
Talk about a special edition of GTA :P
See, this is what a Charlie article looks like without all the ranting and diatribe. However, this message is by no means saying that Charlie should stop. We all need to read rants, hate, other stuff that lets us remember that there are people behind the articles.
A proper article would also have at least 1 sentence telling us what the GT300 IS.
It's probably a graphics card, but you should have at least told us how it will stack up against existing NV cards. Is it high-end or midrange? Does it have twice as many shader units as previous cards? You should have conveyed that info in a second sentence.
(Or, if you don't want to spring for a second sentence, you could make it a run-on sentence, or use a semi-colon; either way, vital information was left out, which should invalidate your entry.)
ecstasy in a game would be story except for the fact that Charlie failed to explain why this find was all Nvidia's fault.
Charlie would have said something like "but it's the same as" or "but it lacks"
Where is Charlie and what did you do with him?
Yeah so it was reported 9 months ago elsewhere this would happen. Is this just a stirrer for the ongoing Charlie bash debacle ?
"ecstasy in a game would be story except for the fact that Charlie failed to explain why this find was all Nvidia's fault."
It wasn't even a TWIMTBP title.........
The GT300 is the part that comes after the GT200. There will be 301 and 2 and 3 and maybe even 333x2, just like GT200 had 297 and this world will end in 2012 -oh wait. Oops, sorry, wrong website. And it will have bottom, breasts and a beautiful face. I mean, sorry about that, I am going through my annual -possessed by the devil, as specified in the Windows EULA, and it's a bit hard to stay on point. Damned bastard won't even let me delete. I meant low-end, mid-end and high-end ofcourse. And if we're lucky they even figured how to solder the darn thing.
from charlie in the last year.
Is the most accurate and most detailed he has written in the last year. once you get past all the nvidia bashing which normally fills 98% of his writing that is.
GT300? June!!!?
Now BEAT THAT!!
Because somebody wrote this some months ago: "that would put it in Q3 anyway, sitting on top of the GT300, if that is on time. I wouldn't hold your breath on that one either, with the engineering delays of 2007 and 2008 haunting them, it will be a minor miracle if anything comes out when it 'should' this year."

Short memory, uh?
The shortest article would be Charlie saying something positive about NFudia.
Here's an example :
"Richard Thornhill, 34, bought two pre-owned Xbox titles with his 12-year-old son Jamie from retail giant Gamestation in Cheltenham, Gloucs. "
So he bought a used copy of GTA (rated M for Mature) for his 12 year old and found some illicit drugs in the case. Proper parenting is circling the drain I see. Carry on!
Cheers,
John
Charlie has shown remarkable amounts of restraint here.
Nothing but title.
:P @ dyno.
I guess that's why they call it an "X" Box...
I just hope this doesn't mean they'll start distributing PCP with the PS3... but they might have to if they want to remain competitive.
The next thing you know, weed will come with the wii... and so on
