Will Wright clears out his desk
Thu Apr 09 2009, 12:23

THE BLOKE who gave the world Spore, the Sims and Sim City has left EA Games to go it alone. Will Wright has been with EA for 12 years and before that he spent a couple of decades with Maxis.

According to a press release, Wright and EA are investing equally into a creative "think tank" called Stupid Fun Club that will be producing content for different platforms including video games, movies, TV, internet, and toys.

This has been Wright's side project for years. EA has locked up the first rights to any games that are derived from Stupid Fun Club and will continue to keep his previous properties in development.

Wright said that the entertainment industry is moving rapidly into an era of revolutionary change and Stupid Fun Club will explore new possibilities that are emerging from this sublime chaos and create new forms of entertainment on a variety of platforms. µ
