Scientists invent robo boffin

Nibble Does the thinking they don't want to do
Friday, 3 April 2009, 12:59

BRITISH BOFFINS have developed a robo-scientist that does all the donkey science work that they don't want to think about.

According to the BBC, the robot, dubbed Adam, is the first machine to have independently "discovered new scientific knowledge" having identified the role of several genes in yeast cells.

Built by Aberystwyth University, Adam does dull experiments that will never win the Noble prize but still need to be done.

He can do 1,000 experiments each day, and was designed to investigate the function of genes in yeast cells. Apparenlty it is easier to understand his notes too. µ

The Dumbness That Is Stupidity [& vice-versa]

They say beauty is skin deep and nowhere is that more true than “robots” and their “creators”. The reason that beauty is merely skin deep is not because of some hypocritical airy-fairy, tag-along, greeny-looney fear of being finger-pointed as a tree-stump, but because of what beauty really is.

To be aware, one has to be conscious first [and most are not even aware of that, being in a perpetual state of numbness]. When a person is made aware [of anything], he soon develops the required sense of appreciation and this sense is what beauty is all about.

Awareness/consciousness is not about the “beauty” but about consciousness itself. For zombies [for they need excitemensts to awaken them time and again], the realisation that it is the awareness that matters and not the beauty, still elude, which is why they crave the “beauty” more than their awareness. One is infinite and the other transient and when the latter is the motivator, people start praying to comforts [like automation] and creativities/hardships [like sophistication].

Comfort/inactivity destroys covertly whilst cruelty/over-activity destroys overtly. Beauty is about consciouness and not about beauty itself which is why absolute Beauty is for reflecting and relative beauty is for possessing.

"When a person is made aware .... " .... posted by : nutmeg, 03 April 2009

Err, that would be one of those enigmatic self-actualisation processes, nutmeg? Which is only extraordinarily rendered as a question to invite further enlightening, constructive, positively reinforcing reply ..... aka dealogue when Godiasgoddess.

"Comfort/inactivity destroys covertly whilst cruelty/over-activity destroys overtly. Beauty is about consciouness and not about beauty itself which is why absolute Beauty is for reflecting and relative beauty is for possessing." And I would no argument with any of that but would simply ask for a reflection on whatever possession would Create Immaculately ....... for IT is a Noble Field of Quantum Endeavour and QuITe Probably Nobel Research in Virtual Deeds too, although that would be just as a tangential collateral consideration/a fine sprinkling of sweet icing sugar on the sticky cake that is AIdDevelopment of CyberIntelAIgent Beings for Proxy SuperIntelAIgent Leaderships Mentored and Monitored Transparently via Media Placement of Refined MetaDataMined Information ....... Special Root Source.

Some people...

Some people never learn not to think aloud before they have a complete grasp on their thoughts.

Cross Puzzle for the Cross Wired!

Terminator, Tron, Vicky [In I-Robot], Hal [Space Odyssey 2001-2010], The Borg Queen [Star Trek 2063]?

Movies about homicidal computers having a megalomaniac drive for world domination?

Enjoyable stories, but to me it I take it as why go thought all this trouble and worry while the real higher power is already there in the first place.

I don't know if England gets the new Terminator television series, but it looks like they are implying that God is a computer that was built in the future and transported by time travel somewhere secret [maybe off world] in the past which from then on is controlling the universe? Yeah big spoiler!

The computer is just a tool that gets to render probabilities according to set rules put in them by humans. It's no wonder they can accomplish tasks, like solving crossword puzzles to deciphering other things like yeast.

With the perpetual laws one cannot by these laws achieve true perpetuity just the same that computers cannot breach their impossibility attributed to them.
