Linux phones need a bit of work

LiMO is not the only fruit say Verizon
Thu Apr 02 2009, 14:21

TELCO VERZION Wireless has said that while it sees a future for Linux-based software on its phones it does not see it as the "preferred" option.

Chief Executive Lowell McAdam has backtracked on a press release last year where the telco said that Verizon Wireless would use the Linux based LiMo software, as its preferred software platform.

Now he is saying that he does not want to be in a position of shunning one operating system in favour of another. µ

No news here then

How many Linux-For-Mobile consortiums have there been in the last 5 years? Too many, it doesn't cut it and to make it capable of running a phone is difficult, even WindRiver themselves said it's too hard for most companies. Android... yet to be truly tested IMO.

Android

Isn't Linux the base OS for Android? That seems like a good enough platform.
