POLE VAULTING into April 2nd, German site Gamestar.de has upped their review of ATI's Radeon HD 4890 (Googlenglish). The card that's been on everyone's mind for the past weeks almost matches the green goblin's GTX 285 on performance but comes in at 70 €urobucks cheaper.
Smooth Creations builds some cool looking rigs like the Neptune Xtreme, on review at Guru of 3D. The massive case shows off the airbrushed chicks and hides within some liquid-cooled overclocking. More than reason enough to read it.
Mini-ITX cases are still few and far between, expensive and hard to come by, but Tweaktown landed a little precious from In Win, the BM650 Mini-ITX.
Tweaknews.net has an Icy Dock MB82SP-1S-1 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch SATA HDD converter on the bench. (Sexy name, huh?) It'll help you plug your laptop drive or even an SSD into a desktop computer, that fast...
Thrusting Reviews got hold of HP's latest LCD wizardry, the DreamColor LP2480zx Professional LCD Display. DreamColor technology promised to increase the colour space exponentially. It delivers, and then some...
Think Computers has a Zalman CNPS 9900LED CPU Cooler. It provides very quiet and powerful cooling for a hefty price. Frank thinks it's worth it, though.
The Tech Lounge has a Cooler Master Sileo 500 midtower case on review today. The Sileo builds-in some foam insulation to soak up the noise. It is a fairly cheap case which has that kind of appeal.
Digital Trends is testing the Alienware Area 51 X58 spawn. A Core i7 gaming machine, the X58 pulls out all the stops but costs about as much as a used car, says Nick.
Legit Revies got a couple of the new Nehalem-EP Xeons in their lab. The X5570 and E5520 just crush their predecessors in SMP and memory tests...
Tom's Hardware Store did a little April Fool's Day article, like the one we saw at Techware Labs on Monday. They called theirs the "Tom's Hardware Biggest CPU Shoot-out, Ever". Hollow points and jacketed rounds... ooeerrrr.
T-Break is looking at a new PSU from Corsair, the HX1000W. Of course this costs an arm and a leg, but it'll even keep a tri-SLI rig fed with an appropriate amount of power.
Thermaltake's Element S case gets another review, this time at Hardware Logic. The stealth case doesn't cost much and has all you need to work cool and look good. µ
If you think that this card is a GTX285-killer then you will be disappointed...
Anyway it is still a good card from the price\performance point of view.
ATI also has to improve their Catalyst drivers
Tomshardware.com among the first site to get their hands on the new hot 4890 but the reviewer wasn't too excited though.
I guess only Charlie would deny the fact it's just an overclocked 4870 with slightly more transistors.
According to him only nVidia are cheating or something like that.
I just need to sprinkle some salt in his open ATi wound.
That card that didn't exist a few days ago has been previewed by the very same author over at Tomshardware.com
I'm talking about GeForce 275 GTX of course and I say damn to all people who are a blind fanboy or is like Charlie.

on the first drivers the GTX 275 beats down the 4890 for the most part, and its actually a mte cheaper. they are going on novatech for 213 pounds. sounds like a steal to me. the 4890s i have only seen for 220 ebuyer. course charlie WOULD find a reason to diss the nvidia card, but 50 plus available and at such a low price, theres no way you should pick the radeon
Worlds first; Made n' china, So AM3 W/ 4 slots memory strong 4-16X as 2-16x or 4-8x, So bit back , yet HOT,Hot,Hot.MAINBOARD. drashek opps, heres Link:http://en.hardspell.com/doc/enshowcont.asp?id=5440
Reading the blurb above I thought the Icy Dock was some kind of 5.25" external facing bay that accepts a 2.5" disk, hot pluggable. In fact it is a piece of plastic that serves to mount a 2.5 disk in an internal 3.5" bay.
It is not like the review is a waste of trees... but it is a waste of time. Perhaps different plastic would have given better read/write rates?
