Next gen mobile broadband will be $70 billion business

Long Term Evolution

CRYSTAL BALL GAZERS at tech stock-watcher Juniper Research reckon that the next generation of mobile broadband devices, which will eventually replace the 3G infrastructure, will generate income in excess of $70 billion dollars (£49 billion) in the next five years.

The Long Term Evolution project (LTE) which aims to have us all weebling about on the World Wide Wibble using mobile devices capable of 100Mbps in the not too distant future, will continue to dominate the way we live our lives, and that fully mobile connections will account for 90 per cent of the market by 2014.

Juniper also reckons that the current economic cock-up is just a blip and that everything will be OK as long as we keep buying stuff using our smartphones and netbooks.

Phew... we were getting worried there for a bit. µ
