MSI launches 17-inch Turion X2 notebook

I'm looking for a new notebook with a Radeon GPU which is nearly impossible to find. Hopefully this will land in my price range of $1k to $1.5k.

I had bought in October last year a MSI GT735 which looks identical to this laptop but has a Radeon 3850 with 512MB ram. The cost of 1466.99 USD on Amazon at the time. This would be my 3rd MSI laptop and I do have to say that the quality is great and the prices are usually 500.00 to 800.00 lower then big box OEM's like Dell or HP.

It is totally worth the price, you get ATI 790 chipset and a Radeon 3850 with 512 MB ram, the thing doesn't ever get too hot and hell it even has an MXM graphics interface so you can (if there are vendors who will sell them) change your video card down the road. This model also comes with a 2.2GHz AMD Turion Ultra.

Evidently, some folks have missed what a laptop is really designed for. Today, the word laptop is used for anything that isn't a tower or desktop featured computer.
I have non-desktop PCs grouped in three catagories. The new Netbook is more of what i call a true "LAPTOP" it's back to the basics of just being a PC that fits on the lap and doesn't offer anything other than basic functions - and with the internet being so much a part of our computing experience, it HAS to be able to mesh.
Then I go to productivity machine. You know the type - integreated graphics, large hard drives, LOTS of USB and a slim profile power pack so no power hungry CPUs installed. This makes them portable while not requiring a Samsonite suit case to move around with.
Then we go desktop replacement. These are easily recognized by the power adapter thats bigger than a cereal box. Full featured and often quad-core CPU equipped boxes with high end dedicated graphics, internal subs, the works.

To think that anything portable will ever equal what you make stationary on the desk and living room is crazy. But, if you can get better sound while you're AWAY FROM HOME - I don't think that's lame at all. It's a toy that you have to be willing to pay for - once you have the WANT or NEED.

I feel dumber having read the previous comment...otherwise, Turion or Centrino, great unit for the money. If you wanna game on the move, i'd rather pay a touch less for AMD and get great graphics to stay on my budget. I'd buy it for $1200-$1300.

I have a GT735, and I can personally attest that the sound it produces is nothing short of mind-blowing. I have no idea how they make the tiny little 5.1 speakers embedded into that chassis work as well as they do, but I can categorically guarantee that it is by far, no contest, the best audio ever provided by a laptop...better than any standard PC with the standard-issue 2.0 speakers you get from HP or whatever.

It is an awesome audio solution. You should stick to talking about things that you have knowledge of.

If only MSI would offer these with 2.5ghz zm-88 CPU's, dual hard drive bays like most 17in laptops have and 8GB max ram which the chipset is capable of, instead of 4GB, i would jump all over this thing, without a second thought...

A 4670 in a laptop sounds very tempting. I'm loving the 4670 I put in my desktop a few months ago. For the price it is awesome.
