I've been accused of vulgarity. I say that's bullshit - Mel Brooks
IT WOULD APPEAR British e-tailer, Novatech, is the first to market with a dual core Atom machine, which, bizarrely or coincidentally is being marketed as the "Ion Fusion".

Based on dual core Intel Atom 330 (2 x 1.6GHz), sporting 1GB Memory (DDR2 667MHz), 160GB Hard Drive and Intel GMA 950 graphics, the machine is not to be confused with Nvidia's Ion platform, which as far as we can tell, still has no design wins.

Apparently Novatech decided to use the name "ION Fusion", because its single core Atom machine was called the ION, so it's like two fused Atoms [...ahhh... ok, now we geddit].
It's also purportedly not a desperate attempt to cash in on Nvidia's Ion platform name, either, with Novatech claiming it named its ION machine well before Nvidia even announced its ION platform, after running a naming competition on its forum. And it's got nothing to do with AMD's Fusion. Or Gillette's come to that. [Cough! Ed.]

Novatech is flogging the ION Fusion in either black or silver for £217.35 and the Ion Fusion 19-inch Bundle - including a 19-inch TFT Monitor and Windows XP Home - from £309.35. Both versions also come with a DVD writer, six USB 2.0 ports and a year's warranty. µ
surely they should be calling it the "ION Fusion Black" for the black one at least.
Well, strictly speaking it be called, "Molecule". Except, I guess that the machine must have an, "electrical charge" so, ok, "ION" it is then... In which case, the Atom should be called, "ION" too. Aggh, never mind.
Better watch it we might also see comparisons of the Gillette Fusion Phenom....
I have built 4 systems for an energy conscious client, very similar to the Novatech one. As far as I am concerned, a small box with the Intel dual core Atom makes a terrific although somewhat basic computer quite sufficient for normal workaday tasks. But you'll never get large name-brand companies to admit this, because such a box on a large scale basis would seriously erode their over-powered expensive computing gear. But if people would begin thinking about greener offices, these systems would move... Ben
