THE INQ was privy to a particularly stimulating panel at SXSW this week, in which the implications of the credit crunch on the online porn industry was vigorously discussed.
Although more top heavy than tech heavy, we figured silicon was silicon after all, so chips or tits, it might be worth a listen in.
Already known as a hard industry to work in, tough economic times are making the online adult entertainment world even more cautious of an upcoming flop, with the panel calling for a severe smackdown on Eastern European piracy and protection against file sharing.
Another shocker for the INQ was all the moaning about how desperate the online porn industry is for talented coders and graphic designers. "We try not to take our coders to trade fairs," said Jay Kopita, a nine-year adult Internet industry executive currently serving as Vice President of YNOT Network. The reason? Other companies will poach them (hmmm, we always knew there was a good reason CES guys try to get in to AVN).
"I've seen so many good online porn companies come and go," Kopita continued as we childishly stifled a giggle.
As for the business model of the future for online fumbling, it's apparently all about interactive intercourse discourse. Basically, luring in the subscriptions by getting models and adult stars to socially interact with paying subscribers on sites like Twitter.
To be honest, we're just happy the porn industry made its... er, position on social media clear and that the industry is finally undressing the issues of a troubled economy and trying to nail down a solution. just so long as some of those stellar high-budget plotlines don't disappear, we'll be satisfied.
As for the INQ, we're just happy we could bring you all the fully-loaded story. µ
Two different things... I usually applaud your puns, but this common mistake is above the INQ's usual standard..
W/torrents on the more shadier side of the Net, and Sites like RedTube, or Tube8 which are all to varying degrees all free as in chips. Why would anyone pay for this stuff??
Come on you know it make sense...
But still, like the above guy says, who would still pay for stuff one can acquire for free from the likes of emule or other P2P networks.
Maybe some people still retain some morals and still think the actors and actress deserve the money, trouble is they enjoy the activity as well as getting paid for their time. And people like that guy hefner (playboys old git) made their billions out of this sh*t. You can almost say this is some legal slavery 'cos not all the cash goes to the people. Also that guy hefner is having sex with girls quarter his age or even younger. And they're quick to diss the arabs, i mean come on...
think on it or as the americans would say 'go figure' or some stupid statement like that.
Jon.
AAAh sylvia where are you partying this saturday night in austin
JPGs or it didn't happen!
I would like to hope this good news would further demise the smut industry.
But as it seams it looks like it's being sent on the free bandwagon, which could develop into a worst market than the first.
Nothing is free, you need power and a computer to see free stuff online that includes smut. But watching [ALL] useless smut will end up more expensive than anybody thought.
The energy used to generate smutty pictures is not put to good use, its wasteful, up there with the world's military budgets.
Smoking and smog is a respiratory lung pollution.
Loud Noise and swearing is an auditory pollution.
In this world, what would you class pollution by sight? Before you answer, isn't there more than one kind?
Smut is killing you, like a frog starting in cool water slowly boiling, even if your an evolutionist, watching the pot will prove how the crawling of time eliminates the week ones.
Save yourselves is saving the planet. The choice is yours, choose well, and prosper.
I think your comment is literary pollution.

lol..I dunno I've ever read that word on the INQ in the 3-odd years I've been coming on here. Way to go Sylvie!
Talking about online p0rnz...what about those shady webcam sites? You know the ones with not real p0rn stars but some amateurs...wonder if they too are running outta business.
BTW...p0rn if it wants to survive should set up some online store or something...and maybe let their customers interact in some messenger wit the actors or I don't see any other reason as too why one would stop downloading p0rnz for free & why just blame torrent there's plenty off other websites lurking around with copyrighted material catch them first before blaming torrents.
Having to listen to these blow-hards bang head on about they're missing their money shot!
Fortunately, I was protected from virgin earshotz by an articulated titillator, condomints of the INQ.
Give me bests to the vicarious!
When you talk or write about the mess in the world, the shoe fits well with your comment on my comment also.
Yeah, I agree just the talk about smut is bad enough.
I just wanted to let you know that I am quitting my job as a journalist because I just got a better offer. Looks like going to SXSW 2009 in that skimpy outfit without panties was a good career move after all!
As for the photos, don't worry, there will be plenty of them soon, I just haven't decided on a name and that is were I need your help.
Sylvie reminds me of Sylvia Saint too much, and I wouldn't want to be mistaken for such a slu^H^H^H I mean legend :)
I am open to all suggestions as to what name I should use in my new line of work so please send your ideas to:
sylvie@theinquirer.net
You can also suggest what would you like to see in those photos.
XOXOXO
Sylvie
P.S. These are the names I thought of so far:
1. Labia Revsky
2. Ivy La Bakers
