Acer plans its first non-Windows smartphone

Nibble Might be Android
Wednesday, 18 March 2009, 17:29

LONG-TIME VOLISH PARTNER ACER is about to launch its first non-Windows smartphone in the second half of this year.

Quoting officials at the company PC World said the range, called Tempo, will be the first not to use the Windows Mobile OS.

It seems likely that Acer is moving towards Google's Android, but the officials were not telling.

Certainly it would not be the first Taiwanese company to get excited about Android. µ

Acer gets smart

Great news, I may even consider an Acer handset now that they offer one that is free of Microsoft contamination. I started boycotting Microsoft ever since the ISO payola scandal. Don't trust their insecure software anymore, either.

Also:instead of having a highly-paid Sweaty Simian for a mascot, Linux has a cute, inoffensive, economical penguin. Advantage: Linux.
