Intel X25-E SSD turned into SAN

Pillar talk
Wednesday, 11 March 2009, 16:10

CHIPZILLA'S X25-E SLC SSD is to be shoved under the bonnet of Pillar's SAN-in-a-closet Axiom system from June.

Axiom is an all-in-one SAN (storage area network) system with custom software and hardware, developed and flogged by Pillar which is connected to Oracle.

According to Ars Technica, the premium version of the system will be made out of SSD bricks which are made up of twelve Intel 64GB X25-E SSDs and a RAID controller.

Each brick will probably cost $10,000. Put us down for a cupboard full. µ

SSD in bricks now?

I remember when they looked good on paper, and the Beatles san that song about doing SSD: "Sylvie in the Sky with Diamonds". You trip for 12 hours and crash.

I druess some people gon't believe in capital punishment. Bummer. All we are saying, give PC a chance.

If you can chuck some bricks across the pond, put me down for... oh. wait. you're going to put me down anyway.
