Vista SP2 release candidate out for public consumption

Have a fiddle
Thu Mar 05 2009, 09:36

MICROSOFT HAS MADE its nearly-finished version of Vista Service Pack 2 available for public download.

The Vole said SP2 is an update to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 that addresses feedback from its customers and friends.

It addresses some 'reliability and performance issues' and adds support for several emerging standards.

Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 is included.

Go here to have a fiddle, unless you really need your computer for something useful, Microsoft warns. µ

Stop it!

I would rather they would stop wasting energy on this failed product that nobody is using anyway! According to Net Applications and W3Counter.com the ratio of XP to Vista is 3 to 1! They should be working to improve XP, because that's what the customer wants. The shareholders are pissed already because Redmond has completely lost it! What are they thinking? Are there any working brain cells left over there?

Hey! Don't fooled us with SP2!

Limited Experience....

XP3 Beta Finally worked when Worm removal Did inside ck disk'd it OUT. This time Vista SP2 R/C uses iso file, then YOU Need to Extract iso file, as it didn't install automatically, iso extractor, which is Not Free = :(. So Waiting, Waiting, Waiting for full version in April'9. Smart Way to Limit test, it Turns Vista Ultimate into NT 6.2, or above 7. by time 7 gets to SP3 it might be NT6.3, Wow. So BET Ultimate Remains W/ SP2 R/C Continues Ultee' MEDIA CENTER BETTER Than 7, which is Hard Luck at Present. Come On NAHALEM. Give US 64bit(Only) for such large O/S & Plenty of Memory(16+ gb).Give Us Dunnington.XP Like TV NTSC Tuners IS On Limited Time Resesitator, Then KurPlunkt..Drashek

A is correct

"A" is correct. I installed some RC of the WinXP SP3, and while it is still running nicely, I can't install the final SP3 without reinstalling.

Remember: Do NOT use on non-disposable systems

Only use this RC on disposable systems.

Experience of previous beta service packs suggests that installing this will probably mean that you can't upgrade to the final release version, and often it means you can't uninstall the RC either.

No Thanks

I retired this OS 6 months ago. It's annoying and worst of all it's broke. It's kind of ironic that both the words Vista and Virus have 5 letters and both start with the letter V. ;)

Have a nice day Microsoft. You can keep Windows ME II.

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
