Hyperspace gets office suite

Fast-boot platform gets word processing
Tuesday, 3 March 2009, 18:25

PHOENIX TECHNOLOGIES has added an Office-like productivity suite to its fast-boot Hyperspace platform.

Hyperspace is a Linux-based "lite" operating system that laptop users can boot into within a matter of seconds.

Users get cut-down versions of Firefox, a video player with a large variety of codecs, a calculator,  notepad and some games.

It is geared for laptop users who don't want to spend days firing up Windows just to check their email.

Through a partnership with Thinkfree, Hyperspace says it offers expanded business productivity capabilities for mobile users  outside of the Windows environment.

The move enables the shifting of a greater percentage of the average mobile user's computing activities from Windows into Hyperspace.

Applications include  web browsing, webmail, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and more. µ

Are these the people who make BIOSes?

Can this thing fit on a mobile phone? Can it work on the new Fujitsu in car device?

Can Fujitsu's new car device be a netbook too?

Imagine having a keyboard in the glovebox, or as part of the center of the steering wheel, or voice command? Good for sales people, mother's driving the kids around, family day's out looking for somewhere to go next.

Start off with glovebox keyboard/mouse combo, so you can work while on the road. Upgrade to voice command as this improves.

I think a broadband netbook, gps, dvd, tv, rear camera parking sensor, with Hyperspace Office just became THE GADGET.

Nice as long as M$ is not involved

@interested_party: All very nice, until M$ steps in... Personally, I wouldn't get into anything that has M$-Windows in it.

While you have the iND kernel unpacked you can also change the location in which it looks for the .cfg file. Open the xboxkrnl.img in a hex editor and search for ind-bios.cfg it will have partition information as part of the string it is in. as in Partition2\ind-bios.cfg change the partition2 to any suitable for where you want to place the .cfg file and have the bios look for it.
Here are the options Partiton
1 to load the .cfg from partition E:

6 to load the .cfg from partition F:

7 to load the .cfg from partition G:

Now save the edited xboxkrnl.img and repack it using XBTOOL. This can be done for both BFM versions and for chip versions.
