REASEARCH In Motion has ruled out dodgy batteries as the cause of keyboards heating up during recharging of its Blackberry Bold smart phone.
Japanese mobile phone operator NTT DoCoMo announced it had suspended domestic sales of BlackBerry Bold after about 30 users moaned the phone got a little hot.
There have been no cases of the BlackBerry doing an Apple and the problem appears to be specifically limited to the BlackBerry Bold devices sold in Japan since last week. µ
My LG wave gets warm when I charge it. It gets really warm when I tether while charging. I fear a fire when my phone falls into the couch cushions while tethering and charging.
I charge my work Blackberry 9000 Bold via a USB cable here in the UK and it's fine - doesn't even get slightly warm. The more annoying issue with the 9000 Bold is the utterly *dismal* battery life compared to the 8800 model I previously had. The 8800 could last between 7 and 10 days between charges - the 9000 lasts about 2.5 days (and that's with the screen off most of the time, 60% brightness when it's on, Wi-fi turned off, 2G used instead of 3G, not making/receiving calls or playing audio/video).
I wonder whether for Japan Blackberry have tried to increase battery life, my Bold barely lasts a day between charges (often less) and i dont even make that many calls with it. It's a good device but battery life is one of the main flaws with it.
Batter life on my Bold is pretty awful. If I'm using the web or doing lots of email, it will not last a day withou a charge. Pretty dismal in today's mobile world. What a shame for a great phone like this to be dogged with this label.
I've had my Bold for 6 months. Charge it every couple of nights. Several times the device has become very hot. Not while charging or usaing - just sitting there. The battery is drained and have to charge + reboot. It works fine once recharged.
