VOLES ARE PLEASED to announce that Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 have advanced to Release Candidate (RC) status.

A blog post confirms that TechNet and MSDN subscribers have got their mitts on the software to test prior to final release.

Anyone else who wants a fiddle will be able to do so "In the very near future". The company says it will be making the RC broadly available for anyone to download and test. We'll keep you posted when that happens.

SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 will be released in the second quarter of 2009, the Volish bogger bogged. µ

Size Matter?

Ok, how big is it going to be?? If it is big enough, it could well be Windows 7 or at least proto-Windows 7.

2009 has only 2 quarters and therefore it's a half year

What do you mean?

"SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 will be released in the second quarter of 2009, the Volish bogger bogged."

Second quarter? You mean second HALF of 2009?

SP2 Is not Windows 7

SP2 will contain changes focused on addressing reliability and performance issues, supporting new kinds of hardware, and adding support for several emerging standards. SP2 will also continue to make it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage large installations of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

Windows6.0-KB948465-X86.exe =388.3MB for 32Bit

Windows6.0-KB948465-X64.exe =614.4MB for 64Bit

Responsiveness

Hopefully this SP will address why it takes 2 damn minutes to print a single page from my quickbooks through a network printer...... it is painfully slow, where as Winxp and Win7 print almost instantly!

I just sit here a wonder wtf Vista is doing while I sit here and wait!

I often think of writing Microsoft a nasty letter about how shitty Vista is..... but I figure they already know! LOL

You mean there are actually large installations of Vista? I thought that was why they're rushing Windows 7.... To get sales going.
