IBM retains server top spot

IBM SAID IDC SAID IBM was the top server vendor in 4Q08 with 36.3 per cent factory revenue share, surpassing second-place HP which held 29.0 per cent.

IBM also held the top spot for the full year 2008 with 31.9 per cent factory revenue share compared to HP’s 29.5 per cent.

And in the the high-end space of the server market for 4Q08 – machines that sell for at least $250,000 – IBM with 63.5 per cent factory revenue share, wipes the floor with HP which can claim just 16.5 per cent. µ
