VOLISH hardware makers have released a SideWinder X8 mouse which will hit the shops for the princely sum of $100.
Microsoft said the wireless gaming mouse is a big step forward in wireless gaming mice. And it knows a thing or two about rodents.
For your 100 notes, you get a 2.4 GHz Wireless connection, BlueTrack Technology with image processing of 13,000 frames per second, 30 hours of play on a single charge, 12 Buttons, seven are programmable, left/right tilt wheel, scroll wheel and full-speed, 500 Hz USB reporting.
Mice can barely get more exciting. µ
.....probably seemed like a good idea when they first proposed such an expensive item 18 months ago.
I use Notepad and play Freecell all the time, I think this mouse will help me improve my computing skills.
Awesome! This will help me improve my mouse traps with stronger springs to snap the neck.
Looks great i have to say and judging by the shape its an ambidex mouse ( i like pissing ppl off by using mouse with both hands)
I have to say I'd give it a go simply as I knwo how good MS mice are. As for Razer - Im so disappointed in Diamondback 3G as my left click has almost dropped to be unclickable in some spots. AND That sux when you're FPSing.
I guess Microsoft, Logitech, and the rest are just out-and-out requiring that everyone mouse right-handed now. They could at least PRETEND to make a high-end model that could conceivably be useful to lefty mousers like myself. This is why I stick to "regular" (aka cheap) mice.
Thirty hours is pretty bad. I get 6 - 8 weeks out of my logitech wireless on 2AA batteries that are rechargable. What happens when the built in battery on this thing goes tits up after being cycled several hundred times. I bet there will no replacements easily found. $100, no thank you.
Does it have wheel detents? Because it isn't beyond Microsoft to leave out important details. I do love MS mice, and have used them exclusively for over a decade now, but they ALWAYS seem to have one thing wrong with them. It's a different thing each time...
For $100 you could buy the OCZ NIA "Brain Mouse" at newegg. Or, a week ago, you could get the Brain Mouse for $80 at Buy.com. Why spend more to get less?
Gonna get another Razer instead.
Nuff said.
it looks like a nice mouse. i have been wanting to replace my mistake purchase of a logitech G7.
what i dont get is that everywhere i look say its $100...
but the store i work for in canada retails it for $78 CAD.
so anyone paying $100 USD is getting bent over big time
Agree with others, razer or nothing.
Will keep using my lachesis till they bring out their "newest shiney thing", it runs forever without charging, 4000dpi laser sensor (proven tech) and polls USB at 1khz :)
A bit pricey (Amazon UK want £88.07 for it, or $US 125 for it) and with one obvious design flaw, ergonomically designed for right handers only judging by the button placement...
... think I'll stick to my Razor Diamondback
..pity about the aesthetics. I'd say it was duct taped to a 360 when it fell out of the ugly tree.
That is ridiculously expensive for a mouse! I don't see how it is any more practical in terms of benefits and advantages compared to cheaper counterparts from Logitech or even Razer.

Logitech's MX Revolution Cordless mouse was also listed at $100 when it debuted a few years back. And they tagged it as "the world's most advanced mouse" - I wonder what took MS so long to attempt match the specs/price ;) And to debut it in these troubled economic times, only M$ would dare :)
It's at the end of our CGi video segment enjoy!

$100? it can't obviously be sold for that. Most likely it would retail for much less. I just bought a Logitech Wave Pro Cordless. That was at a nation chain store for Aus$110 (standard price). Thats around US$70!
The Logitech Wave Pro Cordless is also 2.4ghz, rechargeable, laser mouse model MX1100 (only the wave pro cordless combo has the rechargeable version apparently) with high resolution, includes an excellent very comfortable keyboard, left right scroll, lots of buttons etc etc. It comes with 1 AA 2000mAH battery that I haven't charged since I got it, and I would have played more than 30 hours of Far Cry 2. It doesn't even matter if it does need recharging when using, it is kind of like a corded mouse when charging (it uses a special power adapter recharger). Plus the battery can be freely replaced and recharged separately.
My point is, if you pay US$100 for this Micrsoft mouse, you'e paying too much :)
