Blighty gets DSi two days before the US

Nintendo nice to Brits shocker
Thursday, 19 February 2009, 14:13

MAKER OF WII, Nintendo is set to release its DSi dual screen hand-held gaming console in the UK two days before it is seen in the former British colony of Virginia.

The USA is expecting the latest £150 DSi, with its dual digital cameras and the ability to play with sound recordings, on April 5, but the UK will see them on April 3.

The latest Dsi is thinner than the DS Lite and has bigger screens. It can manipulate photos, mix images and share them with friends... if you have any.

It is not clear why the Brits are getting it earlier, maybe Nintendo are just being nice to us in the same way that Sony isn't.

Still it has been on sale in Japan since November so maybe they are not being that nice. µ

Better than nothing I guess

Well it's nice you're getting it two days earlier, but I'm sure the price will still be about 1.5x to 2x as much.

£150 at Game

They're gonna be £150, at least at Game. I was really surprised to see that they're being released in April and before the states (presumably to try and stop casual importers - I presume the hard core importing elite would all have a Japanese DSi anyway).

Hopefully this will mean the price of the standard DS Lite will come down a tad (although I very much doubt it).

I'll stick with my DS Lite for the time being (unless Nintendo release Super NES, Megadrive and Neo Geo Virtual Console games on the DSi, if they do I'd want one).
