Microsoft's Allen dumps DreamWorks shares

Nibble End of an era
Mon Feb 16 2009, 10:04

EX-VOLE Paul Allen has sold off all of his shares in DreamWorks Animation and ended his involvement with the outfit he founded.

Allen wrote a $500 million cheque to DreamWorks when it was launched as a combination live action and animation studio in October 1994. The outfit was behind the Shrek and Madagascar franchises.

It seems that Allen likely made a lot of dosh on this investment. A lot more than the $7 billion investment he stands to lose on cable TV operator Charter Communications which is likely to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. µ
