AS IF WE didn't lack proof Microsoft was planning on unveiling its latest Windows Mobile 6.5 this week at Mobile World Conference (MWC) Barcelona, Bsquare and Texas Instruments have just announced they'll be demoing software which supports it. Way to let the cat out of the bag guys!
Bsquare has told press it will be showing off its optimised Windows Mobile 6.5 board support package (BSP) for Texas Instruments' OMAP 3 platform this week at MWC.
In a press release, the firm said its production-quality software foundation would apparently reduce costs for producing Windows Mobile 6.5 phones and speed up the process of getting the handsets to market.

Working together with Texas Instruments, Bsquare reckons both firms have managed to squeeze the best out of TI's OMAP 3 platform using the latest Windows Mobile operating system with a purportedly optimised Windows Mobile 6.5 BSP for Windows Mobile OEMs.
The WinMobile 6.5 software foundation for TI's OMAP 3 platform will also apparently boast TI's WiLink 6.0 with support for WLAN, GPS, Bluetooth and FM transmit and receive capabilities through the WL1271 chip.
Although Microsoft has yet to announce its new 6.5 platform, the firm doesn't seem to be making any particular efforts to keep the news under wraps. The Vole is also taking steps towards opening its own retail stores in the US to go head to head with its rivals.
Last Thursday, Mightysoft said it had appointed David Porter, former head of worldwide product distribution for DreamWorks, to be Volish corporate veep for retail stores. Porter starts work on day one of MWC, talk about baptism by fire! µ
Someone seems to have spilt a Symbian picture on your Windows Mobile story.
(Unless this is a regular MS baiting exercise I was unaware of; in which case, do carry on.)
