Robot clones are here

Smaller and more expensive to make
Tuesday, 10 February 2009, 11:58

A JAPANESE outfit is making realistic robotic clones of people that can even imitate your voice.

Creepy-robotHiroaki Koike is apparently doing a roaring trade making robo clones that will have a voice like yours, will be able to respond if questioned and will move according to your commands.

The robot maker will even give it the same sort of clothes you wear.

OK it takes six months to make a robo clone and will set you back €1700 but it is that special gift for a vain person for whom looking in the mirror is not enough.

The robot comes with software under the bonnet designed by Microsoft it can record the sound of your voice, synthesize and play with a microphone.

It is also connected to the World Wide Wibble and will provide you with a daily horoscope and weather information.
The makers say that the robots have the ability to react if you touch them and are commanded to bow and shake hands. They are also equipped with a camera able to focus on the eyes of the person who is talking. µ

Minime.... damnit...

lol, damn you FCH, now I'm really tempted to have one just so I can endlessly use that Austin Powers joke.

Also FAR, it's only going to be cheaper than a regular pet if you have some sort of solar recharge device for it as I'm betting it uses a significant amount of power when active.

I can just see these things being made in larger err.. 'dolls' for very desperate men though.. this is Japan we are talking about after all. :)
