Vodafone and Huchinson Australia merge

Now called VHA, Vodafone or 3
Monday, 9 February 2009, 07:51

HUTCHINSON AND VODAFONE are going to merge their Australian subsidiaries into a 50/50 joint venture sexily named VHA Pty Limited, or VHA. Together they will sell under the Vodafone name, but may also use 3 if warranted.

We have all sorts of quotes from executives, but since this won't be announced until tomorrow, we think it premature to use their quotes before they say them. The press releases are filled with glorious facts about 95 per cent of Australia getting 3G now, and how much money will be made, saved, and likely not passed along to users or workers that will undoubtedly be laid off.

In the end, there is one less choice for Australians who currently suffer for a lack of telecom options as it is. That said, it is a done deal. µ

Better Value

There may not be many operators to choose from but the Value of any of them compared to the UK market is way higher.

For example on PAYG services you pay a set amount, say $49, $69, or $99 to charge your phone and you get included international credit, cross network credit, free same network phonecalls on some networks to the value of $350-$1000 depending on the charge amount.

Shows another example of rip off britain really.
