Intel to shutter Shanghai plant

Moving it to another city
Friday, 6 February 2009, 12:09

CHIPZILLA says it will close its Shanghai plant and move it to Chengdu in China's far west.

The move will affect about 2,000 employees, who will be offered jobs in the western city of Chengdu or other Chinese locations. All they have to do is walk there.

Intel says Shanghai is too expensive these days and a cheaper place like Sichuan might be an effective way to cope with the financial crisis, according to statement said.

Israel's not that cheap these days we've noticed. µ

China's far west?

Isreal may not be cheap

Buts thats where the Core2 design was made, which seeing as that saved Intel
from having its arse handed to it by AMD
for the last couple fo years, means they
arent moving out of there anytime soon!
