Italians cuts phone bills by 80 percent

THE ITALIAN TOWN of Sestri Levante has cut its phone bills by 80 per cent after the town council replaced the old infrastructure with a voice over IP set up.

After six months of installing the new telephone infrastructure, the municipality has already paid for the upgrade in terms of savings.

The system is being touted as a method for local governments to cut costs by using IP switching. µ
