Smartphones get secure with snaps

Nibble Better than passwords
Tue Feb 03 2009, 12:40

AN OUTFIT called PINoptic has developed a new picture-based security mechanism which it claims can make smartphones more 37 times more secure than a pin number.

The software uses a pass code using images rather than numbers. The images are randomly placed on different numbers or letters each time someone logs in. Users push the correct image sequence to get access.

Apparently this is more difficult for anyone watching a user log in to figure out the PIN simply by watching which keys are pressed. µ
