ONLINE search outfit Google has released its long awaited off line version of Gmail.
Users can access the service by chosing the option in 'settings' and entering the Google labs section. The email box synchronizes with a computer's hard drive and allows you to play with nearly all of Gmail's usual tools offline.
You can't send and receive messages of course, unless you have a printer and a very fat pigeon. µ
Actually you CAN compose messages and click on "send". gmail will constantly look for connectivity in the background and send the messages when it's connected. You can also star, read, archive, etc. and the changes will be synced the next time you go online. http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/new-in-labs-offline-gmail.html
"allows you to play with nearly all of Gmail's usual tools become offline"
Why is there a 'become' in there?
You can't send and receive messages of course, unless you have a printer and a very fat pigeon. ยต
LOL
Didn't someone else do this years and years ago? I remember something called Eudora that could do this many winters ago. Even more recently, I believe Microsoft developed a product called Outlook that could do this and more. When will the Googlely Boyz stop reinventing the wheel?
Aren't Eudora & Outlook programs installed on PC's ? Isn't Gmail an online Mail service, like Hotmail?
