JOB-HUNTING PORTAL Monster.com has fallen prey to hackers for the second time in as many years.
The digital deviants made off with sensitive information including Monster user IDs and passwords, email addresses, names, phone numbers, and what a spokesmonster described as "basic demographic data".
The last time Monster was breached, an estimated 1.3 million personal records were lifted which lead to a tangible increase in phishing activity throughout the world.
Monster also said that, so far, it had not detected any illicit use of the stolen information.
The jobseeking site is suggesting that you might have to reset your password the next time you log on. The INQ suggests you might want to go and do that right now! µ

Monster
Here is why:
"Are you contacting consumers directly?
Monster elected not to send e-mail notifications to avoid the risk those e-mails would be used as a template for phishing e-mails targeting our job seekers and customers. We believe placing a security notice on our site is the safest and most effective way to reach the broadest audience. As an additional precaution, we will be making mandatory password changes on our site." - Monster.com
Think about this - People often use the same password for everything, right? Monster.com, Yahoo, MSN, email, etc.. The hackers now have everyone's email and password. People store a lot of sensitive information on their e-mail accounts.
For god's sake, contact your consumers ASAP Monster!!!

Interesting, I have actually received 3 different emails in the last 2-3 days from 'agencies' offering me a job and asking me to please phone them back at a weird number.
This number is a scam, costs you about 30€ a minute or so.. so don't call these people! send them an email and ask them to call you at their convenience instead :)
