Italian schools to do without paper

Nibble SMS 100 times: I must not use pen and ink
Monday, 26 January 2009, 13:07

AS PART of the Italian government's eGov initiative, Italian schools are going to have to start doing without paper.

Justice Minister Renato Brunetta has decided to spend 240 million euro on a pilot for a paperless school.

In the new school SMS will be used to communicate to parents. Reports will be put on the Interent and kids will work on laptops.

There will also be electronic white boards and more PCs than you can poke a stick at. µ

Brunetta is not the justice minister

is the minister for the public administration and innovation.

Kiddy Concentration Camps

This would not appeal for me to send my kids to such a school. Then again only home schooling is kosher.

At least...

Finally some governement is trying to use technology to help on it's own development. I hope it be really sucessful, so it would spread to other nations. Sure they will have many issues to come over, but in the end it could become an experiment to be followed by other countries.

Mr

What a ridiculous idea! The paperless office has never happened, why would the paperless school? Want to draw a quick graph to help you think about a maths problem? That takes a couple of seconds with pen and paper, if that. With a PC: Start- Programs- Accessories- Paint, resize the canvas and, after 5-10 sceonds of clicking, it's hard drawing straight lines with a mouse.
