Nibble Cost cutting starts

SEARCH ENGINE outfit Yahoo's brand new CEO is setting her stamp on the company by freezing salaries.

It is the first action that Carol Bartz has taken since she was hired two weeks ago to engineer a turnaround. The only way that Yahoo staffers can get more money is if they are promoted.

Yahoo has about 13,700 employees after laying off 1,500 workers last month. Bartz has not talked about making more staff redundant unless the recession continues longer than expected. µ
