Japanese security gets robo-guard

Does whatever a spider can
Fri Jan 23 2009, 11:21

A JAPANESE SECURITY outfit has invented a robot which can catch intruders in a Spiderman-style net.

The remote-controlled security robot T-34 is a small wheeled vehicle packed with sensors that detect anything untoward in an office building.

It was developed by robo boffins Tmsuk and security company Alacom.

It can move at 10kmh and is controlled by a human security guard using his mobile phone. It means that a human does not have to waste time checking out false alarms, but if the alarm turns out to be correct, the robot can act. µ

10km/h, so the thief only has to jog to get away?

Lol.

And the robot needs a security guard to use his mobile phone to control it. That sounds like a kerfuffle. I'd just pay the security guard and his vicious dog. Let the dog off the leash, then we will see how fast the thief can run!

So, the T-34 eh? How long before the T-101. Now, that'd make an interesting security robot. :P

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
