The empires of the future are the empires of the mind - Winston Churchill
THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE has been forced into launching an inquiry into racism by suspected troops found on social not-working site, Facebook.
Several reports of racist abuse have been noted on the site causing deperate need for an inquiry which was launched last night by the MoD.
These complaints come shortly after the third in line to the throne, Prince Harry was busted for making racist comments about his fellow troop members calling them such obscenities as “paki” and “ragheads”.
Many of the comments posted on Facebook consist of similar words, some even going as far as asking, “Anyone fancy a spot of Paki bashing?” while listing their army number and base.
While others had joined a thread named, "I'm a soldier why should I fight for stealing immigrant scum".
Campaigners including the Equality and Human Rights Commission flagged this problem as something which needed immediate action from the army as the comments clearly show that racism is still alive within the armed forces.
Mohammed Shafiq, chief executive of the Ramadan Foundation said, "There has undoubtedly been a huge change in attitude among senior ranks and ministers but this shows that has simply not trickled down to the rank and file ... If the army truly wants to start recruiting more people from an ethnic minority background this has got to be addressed as a matter of urgency."
The MoD has been working on this issue for a while now, claiming that the percentage of forces from an ethnic background rose by 0.004 percent since last year, yet this was nowhere near the target.
Clearly there is great cause for concern in this area, as it should really not have got this far. The MoD maintains that it is committed to "a working environment which is free from harassment, intimidation and unlawful discrimination".
Let’s hope this investigation brings about some change. μ

Sometimes I forget that the UK and its self-governing dominions of Canadia and Botany Bay, et al don't have guarantees of free speech.
Popular/politically correct speech doesn't need protection. Unpopular/ politically incorrect speech does. Freedom of speech is the foundation of democracy. I may not agree with what some people say, but I stand by their right to say it.
The (not our) government of the United States send $2 billion a year to the Egyptian regime which has been ruling under emergency power since the early 1980s. It is illegal for five or more little old ladies to get together to knit because the freedom of assembly directly threatens their regime...but why would the (not our) American government do this?
The effects are clear: diaspora. Also I think I'd like to point out that the countries with the greatest percentages of illegal aliens in Europe tend to be countries that kicked total ass back in the day. Look at the military and trading empires established hundreds of years ago and naturally they would now have weakened "immigration" policies that allow displaced Arabs to easily seek shelter instead of standing up for their rights in their own countries.
All the while the media points at those who have gained the most on their own merits and therefor have the most to lose as somehow being evil. We all have a right to protect what we have earned as families, communities, elasticities, races, religions, or whatever. Any one who would argue otherwise has something to gain from your loss regardless of WHO and WHAT you are.
...is the lowest form of wit.
In this particular case, it is certainly not appreciated... it simply shows the callous nature of the writer.
There can be no question that the words "Paki" and Raghead" are derogatory words describing a race of peoples - racist words.
Everyone is entitles to freedom of speech, but many forget that the freedoms only go so far to a point where they start treading upon other people's liberties and freedoms.
If you don't agree then please, go up to a gang of black youths and say "nigger. Then go on to politely explain that you are exercising your freedom of speech - while having your teeth kicked in.
Granted that words such as "Paki" or "Raghead" are not as powerful as "the N word", it does not mean that they are not racist, or will not cause the same kind of resentment from whatever race they are aimed against.
By launching an investigation, the MoD is clearly stating that racism of any kind or level will not be tolerated.
The very white writer has no right to mock such a decision when she has not been subjected to such forms of abuse. I wonder if she would have the same attitude if the words "Prince" Harry used were derogatory towards women or she was a "raghead paki" herself.
I am a Pakistani British citizen and proud to be both. I can tell you here and now that these words do hurt.
It makes us feel isolated... cut off from british society. It makes us feel that we are hated within our home nation. It leads to fear, seclusion, and time; bitter resentment.
Friends, please understand that what might seem like fun and games to you affects us all deeply. It makes us feel like outcasts in our own homes.
Put simply, it is a form of bullying of an entire race within a country.
When someone takes a positive step to tackle the smallest bit of racism, I ask that you see it as them saying "We have Zero Tolerance to racism - We are all one people, one nation".
I feel we can all agree that this is the way things should be.
Your right to speak your mind is more important than my desire not to be offended.
Complaining about racism is idiotic. Whites are not the only ones who say racist remarks. There are people from every race that do. Every group has people that hate others who are not like them. Its just the way life is at the moment. Stop crying.
Get over yourself with that load of crap about "Freedom of Speech" and such. If you aren't petitioning your govt for redress of grievances, you have ZERO right to open your big trap.
A US Supreme Court justice is on record stating the 1st Amendment is "primary collective in nature", not even an individual right.
So give it up, and keep your big mouth shut.
If you can't spot the problem with soldiers, proudly identifying themselves as such, making derogatory statements about their fellow countrymen, humbly accept my request for ye to go forth and multiply, as they say.
No one in this country is allowed to speak their mind because the socialists hate free speech. I'm ex-army myself and would hate fighting for this country today!
I heard they're hiring this year...
My 2 cents: Who cares what a bunch of skinhead numbnuts said? I know they're British but still you can't expect them to kill and be polite.
May I offer you a fine cup of tea before I kill you in cold blood, Mr. Terrorist? LOL.
An Army free of intimidation? ahahahaha, pull the other one.
and then complain if they are racist, or have a fight in the street, or are aggressive, or many other anti-social behaviours.
These young people are trained to kill, be tough and survive in a hostile environment. If a recruit cannot take a bit of name calling "fatty, paki, whitey, paddy, Spic, ugly, goofy, baldy" then they aren't going to take day after day of rpg's very well are they?
Reality check - they are knocking each other with words to test and encourage toughness in their group. They have banter, they jerk around, this creates camaraderie, so long as is does not cross the line into abuse.
If you cannot take being called a name, no matter how furtful, then you probably shouldn't be put under pressure for 6 months+ with local people trying to shoot and bomb you out of their country. IE, don't join an army, any army.
