Asia computer sales drop

Nibble First time in ten years
Mon Jan 19 2009, 10:07

ONCE TOUTED as the bottomless pit of computer sales, Asia seems to have lost interest in buying PCs.

Bean counters IDC said that the sale of computers in the Asia Pacific region fell for the first time in a decade. Blaming the global meltdown, IDC said more than 17.2 million desktop computers and laptops were flogged in the last four months of 2008. This was down 14 per cent from the previous quarter. It was also five per cent lower than a year ago.

It has not been this bad since 1998 when Asia had a huge financial crisis and didn't want to buy anything. µ
