Obama sticks with Blackberry

Nibble Security unconscious
Mon Jan 19 2009, 08:31

(ALMOST) PRESIDENT Barack Obama is ignoring requests from the security services to hand over his Blackberry.

Obama said the smartphone would be used to stay in touch with real Americans and avoid becoming trapped inside the presidential "bubble."

He said he had no problems with the world plus dog seeing his posts and he would think hard before he pressed send.

Under US law the President had to keep a record of every White House communication. Security services are also concerned that the Blackberry could be hacked. µ

Please no more obama articles.

Please no more Obama articles, how can so many people believe in this "Change" crap he is peddling while surrounding his cabinet with ex Clinton types and lobbyists?

Have people gone insane? I see and hear about this guy everywhere, and i'm bored.

People treat this guy like the messiah, while all he is, is another Bush puppet, which the central bankers control.

People wake up!

We all know it's mostly Alan Greenspan's fault for 15 interest rate rises in a row.

That mortgage that used to be affordable, is now unpayable. This happened on a large enough scale to cause the collapse in the US housing market, causing a knock-on effect around the world.

That medium sized business that had it's development loan to increase staff and product supply, is now unable to meets its doubled loan repayments. The business struggles, starts laying off workers midway through it's expansion program.

Throw in some dodgy bankers repackaging debt to each other in a billion-gazillion merry go round of bullshit quality with Alan Greenspan's deliberate destruction of the US economy and you have where we are all at today. An engineered crisis of global proportions.

Solution - Follow Gordon Brown's lead in getting lending moving. Make the bank's pay by buying them up cheap now, investigating them quietly and sacking the crap bankers. As the banks emerge stronger and fitter, sell the shares back on the open market for a nice profit in 5-10 years.

How is this related to Obama and his blackberry? He's of similar opinion to Brown, with a bit of luck they get rid of the crooks running the banks, which will lead to a rosier future for us all. And if the man is clean enough to use comms that are easily crackable, then he's the best we can could have hoped for.

When all this is done, I hope the Inquirer will find the time to Fix The Comment's Bug ;-)

American and Europe should be very worried

Obama and his Blackberry could very well insure a world wide economic depression -- digitally.

Anyone who has actually reviewed the trillion dollar stimulus plan knows there is no way on earth this plan could possibly suceed in pulling the U.S. out of a recession let alone a depression. Obama is no different than Bush or any of the other criminals on Capitol Hill. Throw money at the problem because they are all so removed from reality. Bush, Obama and Congress didn't even know the U.S. was in a recession for 12 months until they got a memo last month.

The working man is the one who will suffer while the high-rollers on Capitol Hill continue to fleece America.

I bet you voted for George W. Bush and the other Republicans who got us into this mess! :-)

Who Cares?

I'm not a Obama fan at all. (I'm a card-carrying member of the GOP) however I think ANYONE in the US should be able to communicate with friends and loved ones in private, including the President.

I just hope he does a good job. We as Americans CANNOT afford to become socialist, which sadly enough looks like the way things are going (The Banks, Health Care, etc.)

Who ever said I live in the U.K.?

English isn't even my native language.

It seems that peering into the private lives of others, particularly their family, sexual and church-going lives, is mostly an "Anglo Thing" brought on by extremes of protestant puritanism. It seeped into the culture a long time ago and has infiltrated the collective psyche much in the same way that Christmas will bring a warm feeling even to Non-Christians.

Obama has a lot of issues...

The man is spending $150 million on his inauguration that many consider a Coronation. This ostentatious display of fiscal irresponsibility is troubling and insulting to tax payers and the people in America who have lost their jobs, retirement and homes via the incompetenet managament on Capitol Hill.

So he wants to stay in touch with...

He wants to stay in touch with real Americans? I guess his phone number will be made public then. He should be getting 2 or 3 calls a day from Joe Anonymous.

Re: The Yanks just can't grow up.

So where DO you live then??

In the UK the media like nothing more than getting their claws into a nice juicy story about some high-ranking politician - especially concerning their sex-lives, and I dare say much of the rest of the world also suffers from this malaise...

The Yanks just can't grow up.

Where I come from, as is the same with most other countries, we don't care about the private lives of our leaders....don't care about their mistresses or boyfriends, what tech they use or don't use, don't want to read their email, etc.....

All we care about is their job performance.

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
