Even Microsoft may have to lay off workers

Et tu, vole?

IF YOU THOUGHT the tech giants were immune to the credit crunch, think again. Even Microsoft may be mulling layoffs, claims the Wall Street Journal.

The tech behemoth, which currently counts about 91,000 employees, is said to be "seriously exploring significant work force reductions", with the WSJ positing these could be announced as early as next week.

The firm's fourth quarterly results are due out next Thursday, which should indicate whether the Redmond Giant really does have due cause for battening down the hatches and throwing any excess weight overboard.

Yesterday Volish Shares slumped 3.7 per cent to $19.09. µ
