Microsoft gets Chinese IPTV deal

MICROSOFT has managed to flog its Mediaroom software to a Chinese TV provider to offer IP television over a cable network.

Vole signed the deal with Guangzhou Digital Media Group in what is the first IPTV deal in China as well as the first time Vole's software has been used to power TV over a cable network.

So far, Vole has only managed to flog the software to telcos which wanted to get into the TV business by offering IPTV. µ
