LCD SCREEN maker LG Display has landed a five year contract with Apple.

The world's second largest LCD manufacturer after Samsung, the South Korean company said in a filing with the Korean Exchange that it will trouser a $500 million advance from Apple this week. Neither company revealed the total size of Apple's sourcing commitment.

Company spokesman Son Young-Jun said, "Although LG Display already had a relationship with Apple, the deal's duration and the size of the advance show that the two companies are involved in a long-term, strategic alliance."

LG Display already supplies about 70 per cent of Apple's notebook and monitor screens. µ
