Ford adds expansions to Microsoft software

Vole on Board
Friday, 9 January 2009, 09:19

MAKER OF THE MODEL T has decided that its Microsoft-powered in-car Sync software is so good it wants to expand what it can do.

Ford has unveiled expansions to its Vole on Board communications system which include having Ballmer's Boys shout turn-by-turn directions and give you traffic reports.

Later it is going to offer you news news, weather, and sports but that will be some time in 2010. The updates will be jacked under the bonnet of all Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models by 2011.

Ford said that the services will be free for three years, but there's no word on the cost after that.
However it points out that if you trust in Microsoft to get you to your destination you will save loads of trouble, time and fuel.

Apparently Sync equipped Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles sell nearly twice as fast as those without the Vole on Board.

A Ford survey of Sync customers showed nearly 80 per cent of respondents "definitely would" recommend it to a friend.

Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally said that the software has been going great guns since its launch.

Apparently, you can have any screen as long as it's blue. µ

Belongs in the boot!

And I'm afraid you'll need to restart your Ford before your search engine can take affect.
