REMEMBER WE TOLD you about the Nvidia 3D glasses, and how they were going counter to industry trends? Want to see what they look like before the NDA goes up?
Here is the transmitter, if you look closely, you can see the IR LEDs on all sides, and a USB cable sticking out the back. Because the NDA hasn't gone up, the company displaying these had to scratch the Nvidia logo off. The same goes for the glasses below, no logos, but they are the real thing.
They were being demo'd on a Mitsubishi rear projection TV, one of the few that are certified at this time. I guess we don't understand the point of tying your product to a projection TV when every sane person has abandoned them for LCDs.
Maybe it is just us, but this is so 1990s. µ
The reason for the DLP projection is very clear... The refresh rate is higher !!!!... Does no one remember the multiplayer FULL screen tech demo over the same 'abandoned' technology last year?, where it alternated players screens being displayed and used synched specs to split the images.
Come on author, learn your facts!
That Mitsubishi Rear Projection was probably one of the new Laservue sets which can actually do a 120hz refresh rate properly.
Most LCD's would look a bit messy.
Didn't Michael Caine wear a pair of these in 'The Ipcress File' in 1965?
They look better than those preview models I saw some month ago on an other website.
They seem to work the same way as those glasses used in movie theaters, that's good because those glasses where the first that I used, which didn't cause me headaches.
The polarising technology means that the refresh rate is halved, so the refresh rate of the display needs to be increased to achieve a decent refresh.
It also reduces the light level - which was the most severe disadvantage when I last tried it (on a CRT display).
It's one area in which CRT technology is clearly superior (the others being supporting multiple resolutions, and being able to support light guns/pens..)
People collect experiences, most are very complex. With colours of seperate lens changing way eye must acomadate light, You become more aware or more of You becomes aware. Of Course, $8(X family Size) Movie Ticket might cost less, yet Theres NO Way to Enhance Ones Vision without experience. Ahso, use color lens/filters in 4X5 press camera case, one colour in each eye, like monoculs.
Second OT Point on RAID for SSD. by getting such results must mean SSD controller needs more developement, Redundant Array of Discs isn't same for HDD, how it supposed to combine platters due to spin lag, SSD should be designed to do that or bios setting speed for each "C" unit as SSD. RAID on other HDD would then work too, in same enviorment? Drashek
If you went to Nvision at all you could see these running on MULTIPLE displays in more than one booth and take pictures of them. Heck Andrew whats his name was there chatting with EVERYONE about them.
Spy shot? Hardly.
Oh and they work on any DLP, CRT, or 120Hz LCD (like the Viewsonic pc monitors or the Samsung ToC TV's)
The reason for this is simple, to prevent headaches. 120Hz means the glasses can shift each eye 60 times per second (unlike other 3D glasses) to prevent all sorts of unpleasant effects, and headaches are the biggest. Next thing you know, you'll be surprised the things can change the depth of field with a bit of tinkering so as to suit your tastes.
Charlie, sometimes you're readable and sometimes you're a hack.
The 47" Philips I bought over the hols has the 120hz, and it was here on the Inq or Fudz they did a story about LG about to sell a 240hz. Maybe wait until the dust settles. I think I'll return the 47" because I can't find any 3D glasses to use with it. The picture is spectacular, although I can't adjust individual colour saturations, like I can on my Mitsubishi DLP. It is nice to know that it will work on both. I guess Plasmas are out of luck? Will these use software to display any video in 3D? I'll be looking forward to the video coverage of CES. What a kerfuffle! Don't like it! Yeah. I know. Where's Sylvie? What's CES for? Charlie! I'm so Inqfused!
Remember this?
Guy should be locked up. his lack of ethics are appalling http://directmag.com/magill/0729-charlie-demerjian-response-spammer-suicide/
I own a pair of shutter glasses because I bought one of the Samsung plasma that support TriDef (http://www.tridef.com/home.html). Honestly though, yes, I do get migraine pain. x_x
Maybe Charlie should write about himself.. I wonder how many skeleton he would reveal.
I haven't read the original article that the link ( http://directmag.com/magill/0729-charlie-demerjian-response-spammer-suicide/ ) refers to, but if it's really like that link puts it, he should really be ashamed of himself.
Why are all you ninnys going on about Charlie's report about the scum of the earth topping himself.....if you had bothered to read the origional article,
Charlie did mention it was unfortunate and tragic that the spammers family was killed, but as for the spammer, I couldn't agree more.
Nuff said!!!
Ha, they scratched off the logo but didnt bother removing the clearly visible serial???
In case Charlie doesn't know how to google, here's a page that lists a number of 120Hz LCD TVs:
http://www.smart-review.com/120hz-hdtvs.php
Beware, just because a HDTV says '120Hz' does not mean that you can feed it a 120hz signal. All current '120hz' LCDs will only accept a 60Hz. The 120Hz LCDs are actually internally processing the 60Hz signal and doubling the frame count to reduce blurring caused by the capacitance of the LCD. An exception to this is the viewsonic 22in 3D LCD 'PURE 120Hz' (indicating that it actually accepts a 120Hz input signal) that was demo'd at the Nvision conference last fall. The reason Mitsubishi and Samsung came out with DLPs is that TI developed a special DLP chip that would 'wiggle' the mirrors at 120Hz instead of 60Hz. This DLP chip was simply a migration of higher end DLP chips down from projectors made for cinema and into a cheaper chip that could be cost justified in a consumer HDTV. The 3D kit also works with 3D plasmas from Samsung, which look much better than the DLPs but they are only 720p. At any rate, there are also 'polarized' LCDs that have an extra lens added to the front of the LCD such as the zalman or hyundai that are much more comfortable to use. if anyone want real info, send me a mail. tru3d.com
Also I seem to remember LCD's refresh progressively, so shutter glasses tend to give you half of each frame (mid refresh).
