Full Nvidia GT285 scores

NDA Buster Over 100 benchmarks inside
Wednesday, 7 January 2009, 11:22

NVIDIA'S NDA ON the 285 and 295 go up tomorrow, so we figured we would bring you the complete scores early. We aren't NDA'd, nor are we afraid of being cut off, so we won't stick to their 'recommended' list of things to show you. Enjoy.

First up, we have the 285, with scores taken on an Intel i7 3.2/965 overclocked to 3.33 for grins. It uses 6G of DDR3/1600 9-9-9-24 on the broken OS SP1, 64-bit. No malware was removed from the OS. The drivers are the 180.48s.

They are listed by 1920 x 1200 followed by 2560 x 1600 scores, 285, 260-216 and 9800GTX+ in that order. Everything else should be pretty self evident. Enjoy, unless you are NDA'd, then call Nvidia and vent.

too bad

Too bad you dont have a gt280 to compare the 285 to. I'd think that people would want to see how the gt285 stacks up against its direct predecessor.

missing ati for reference

it would be nice to include also the HD 4870 X2 and the HD 4870 (maybe 1GB version) for better comparison.

gtx260 3dmark

Agreed, would be nice for a GTX280 comparison (which I have and would like to see the difference). Mine on a quad core intel 3.2GHz and gives 15.5k 3dmark06's at 1280x1024. How one earth did that 260 get 16k 3dmarks at 1900x1200?

Seriously?

"the broken OS". WTF, is the author 8 years old? Childish crap like that is why I find myself reading the Inq less and less these days. It's fallen far since the loss of Mr. Magee.

Prey OGL 1920 scores

Is it just me or do the Prey OGL results at 1920 look completely screwed up?

Inq' smells funnee

Jo Seriously? take it easy. one of the most things i liked about the inq' is the sarcasm-esque tech journalism. People just find it hard to accept Charlie going down at NV anymore becoz of all the crap he has been writing.

lets move along now ....

old driver, non certified. One the legitimate press were told not to use.

Move along now. or head to the friction tab of "charlie v Nvidia"

Id say its about 5-0 now to Nvidia, because while im sure a few things Charlie has reported are true in the past, there is absolutely no jounalistic credibility in play on this site at all.

Why bother???

One thing keep popping up in these comments. Bitchin about the writer all the bloody time.

Why do you ppl even bother to read The Inq and then all you have is bitchin about one thing or another??????

Ok while I think the look was better before I still have the same amount of fun reading the hi-sarcasm stories as always (tho i do miss Mageek's ed. comments).

Now go and ask yourself: why i am such a little bitch? or stop it sissies or better still write your own bloody crap.

INQ RULES!!! har ahr

@ eric

"one the legitimate press were told not to use"

Are you missing the point of the "No NDA" theory? Most of the time the "legitimate press" are merely parrotting the PR bumpf they've been fed, using the same setups, benchmarks and (usually heavily modified "press only") drivers, all giving the same results.

While this is a dream come true for the PR wonks in charge of a launch, it's of less use to us poor benighted consumers. I'm not a great follower of the Inq's video card coverage, for the simple reason that 90% of the time their "no NDA" stance doesn't net them any significant time advantage when it comes to release time on articles (usually a day, maybe only a few hours, maybe a day and a half most of the time), nor does it usually reveal scores wildly more informative than other sites.

Anandtech is still the big daddy when it comes to this stuff, but they take far more care and know their shit far better than most sites do....
