GRAPHICS CARD FIRM GECUBE said it has received a "large number" of reports from customers who bought Gecube HD4000 series products only to find non-Gecube-produced graphics cards in the box.

The cards are counterfeit and the firm reckons a large number of these have ended up on the market.

The firm has produced pictures to help you identify the dodgy cards, which we reproduce below.

The fake cards are in boxes printed with Gecube logos and the graphics cards themselves sport fan stickers printed with the Gecube certification logo and production serial number.

Gecube, part of Taiwanese manufacturing outfit Info-Tek said it would "take all necessary legal action against anyone producing counterfeit HD4000 series products" to protect its reputation.

It is not yet known where the cards come from or whether they work. So if you have one, do let us know. µ
