HALF OF AMERICAN teens are far too open about what they do on their social notworking sites and are telling the world plus dog how they are doing the dirty and taking drugs, according to US researchers.
Dr Dimitri Christakis, of Seattle Children's Research Institute, in that great coffee table read the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine said that the majority of teenagers who have a Myspace account are displaying risky behaviors in a public way.
More than half of teenagers mention risky behaviors such as sex and drugs on their accounts, he said, deeply shocked.
Christakis said that many young people who use social notworking sites don't realise how much their behavior is on view. Nor do they realise how risky it all is.
The study more or less involved looking for sex and drugs references in teenagers websites. It seems that teenagers think about sex and drugs a lot.
More than 54 percent of the publicly available accounts they checked contained information about high-risk behaviors. Of these 41 per cent mentioned substance abuse, 24 per cent sexual behavior and 14 per cent violence.
But according to Christakis, most of the teens are unaware of what they are putting up on the site. In another study he emailed the teens and told them "Whoa! Why are you putting that up there?" and within three months many of the young people had withdrawn references to sex and substance abuse and tightened security controls. µ

"mention risky behaviors" - "contained information about high-risk behaviors"
What nebulous wording... By that definition, this same article mentions and contains information regarding high-risk behaviors. That's certainly one way to create some very generalized BS to try and scare the unwary. With the definition being so broad, talking about driving, mountaineering, signing up with the armed forces, scuba diving, etc... could all be considered 'high-risk' behaviors.
And golly gee whiz. Kids talk to each other about sex. There's a freakin' surprise when parents won't do it, the schools are pretty much forbidden about telling kids anything more then sheer mechanics about it, and any other adult talking to a kid about it is damn near a crime in itself these days with the pedo witchhunt.
Here's another spin on the story for ya. The original author at reuters got caught searching myspace for sex and drugs (and barely legal teens) and once confronted about it, spins it into 'research' in order to keep his job and avoid being called a pedo!
So... why is Nick Farrel doing all the teen sex stories?
Well, duh! They were posing for their other teen friends, and when he e-mailed them they realized they were busted and pulled it. The better thing to do would have been to e-mail the kids' parents. Maybe they would like to know little Johnny is shagging a cheerleader and smoking pot after recess. Cheers, John

Johnny? John? Coincidence, or just another teen exhibitionist? ;)
Oh no!!!
Kids actually finding someplace they feel comfortable enough being honest about what they're doing instead of growing up in a walled garden!
Parents finding out their kids are growing up and going all the things that they got up to when they were 'young and crazy'!!
Real proof people can enjoy themselves!
Say it isn't true!
Won't somebody think of the children!!
The sooner social effects like this push all this unattainable highbrow garbage about how people "should" behave out of the way and actually puts standards more in line with how people actually DO behave, the better for everyone.
People worry about steep food costs and obesity, though, they spend less on 'back to school ' , citing recession. People criticize the car manufacturers for their inferior energy efficiency, while the articles over the future renewable energy and energy- efficient autos can't be easily found on the the front page. People are concerned about the unhealthy diets, however, they ignore the toxic environments on the internet in the name of freedom. War calls for more substance abuses, internet porns, violences, too much gaming to paralyze the conscience, rationality. Teens, youths are in dire need of their parents' care and love above food, which lead them to use internet for the sound informations, education, just as the new president mentioned.
